Glasgow Dees Club Information

HISTORY

The current “Glasgow Dees” were formed in September 2002 by a group of exiled Dees who subscribed to the now-defunct Dundee FC “topica” mailing list (the old-timers will remember it!). After getting together for a midweek game at Motherwell, a meeting date was set, communications sent out, and the rest is history.

In our first few months, we had enough interest to raise the cash (with a little help from our first pre-match doo before a game against Partick Thistle) for our banner, at 20ft x 10ft it certainly helped a lot in getting our name out, and got us a few new memberships into the bargain. The banner was first unfurled, fittingly, at the Partick v Dundee Scottish Cup 3rd round tie on a cold January afternoon in 2003 – many fans will remember that as the first step on the Road to Hampden that season and an appearance in the Scottish Cup Final. For the semi final and final, we helped bring Dundee Supporters Clubs from all over Scotland together in a number of pubs close to Hampden for a number of right good pre-match parties. Unfortunately, as we know, the Dees were just pipped by Rangers in the final – if only Barry Smith’s early screamer had found the net...

The Glasgow Dees are still going strong, and meet on the first Wednesday of every month in the Old Printworks Bar, North Frederick Street, Glasgow at 7.30pm (for an 8pm start). All Dees are welcome to come along, whether you live, study or work in Glasgow or the surrounding area, or are just visiting or passing through. Membership fees are £10 for adults and £5 for concessions/student and out-of-town (we have members in Glenrothes, Dunfermline, Dundee and Abu Dhabi!). We can be contacted by email at glasgow dees.
